Norma Gail Novak, nee Thomas, 77, Chandler, AZ. (formerly Lincoln, NE.) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 14, 2017, at her home.



Norma, daughter of the late Lawrence Thomas and wife Loraine, nee Henderson; sister of the late Jenny Scheibe, was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Pawnee County, NE. Norma graduated from Summerfield High School, in Summerfield, KS. in 1956. Norma was married to James Novak of Tobias, NE. for 55+ years (Jan. 27, 1962 in Lincoln, NE.).



They lived in Lincoln, NE. and started a family, welcoming a daughter and a son....

Norma, daughter of the late Lawrence Thomas and wife Loraine, nee Henderson; sister of the late Jenny Scheibe, was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Pawnee County, NE. Norma graduated from Summerfield High School, in Summerfield, KS. in 1956. Norma was married to James Novak of Tobias, NE. for 55+ years (Jan. 27, 1962 in Lincoln, NE.).



They lived in Lincoln, NE. and started a family, welcoming a daughter and a son. She instilled in her children a sense of ethics, hard work and kindness. Norma worked for State Farm Insurance for over 30 years until her retirement in 2001 which is when she and Jim moved to Chandler, AZ. to enjoy the year-round sunshine. While in Lincoln, the family were active members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was beloved by her daughter, Shelly Novak, Chandler, AZ. and her son Tony Novak, Lincoln, NE.



Norma will be forever remembered by her husband, James and their children; her sister, Velda Koch (Thomas) of Lincoln; her brother, Lawrence Thomas and his wife, Jeanie of Lincoln; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; the rest of her family and many dear friends.



Memorial services are planned for Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 6111 Morrill Ave. Lincoln, NE. 68507. A reception will directly follow Mass in the church hall. After the reception, there will be a private family inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
