Tribute & Message From The Family

Houser Sr., Robert Grant "Bob", age 81, Lincoln, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Tabitha Nursing Center with family members by his side. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on August 28, 1931 to Guy and Orpha Houser. Bob graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wyoming while also playing football. He was a United States Air Force and Korean War veteran. His life took him from being a high school teacher and football/wrestling coach to the crop insurance business. Along his life's journey, Bob was inducted into the Wyoming Football Hall of Fame, as well as the University of Nebraska Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was an avid Nebraska football and wrestling enthusiast. He served a number of years as president of the NU Booster Club for wrestling. Bob appreciated a cup of coffee with his pals, a good joke, and had a contagious laugh. Sunday attendance to church brought him fulfillment, friends, and a highlight to his week. Bob was extremely loving, and proud of his children and grandchildren.

Condolence & Memory Journal

A year late but still saddened by the news of Bob's death. He was a tough and demanding coach, but he was fair. I have wished over the years to meet him again and let him know how much he influenced my outlook on life as an adult and as a parent. Thank you so much Coach Houser - RIP.

Rita and family,

I am deeply saddened on hearing of Bob's passing. My condolences go out to you and your family. Bob was a fantastic coach, teacher, and person. Playing football for him was tough but fun. His enthusiasm for what he did was always apparent. My father valued his friendship . . . as did many. Bob and Dad will surely be doing some hunting, together, again.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about the loss of your dad. I have such fond memories of him I will always remember. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.
Sent with love and remembrance,

Bob was one of the first people in the crop insurance industry to welcome me when I first became employed in the business. He was so genuinely friendly and helpfull that it seemed I had know him for years. He was one of those folks that even though he left teaching in a formal sense, he ALWAYS was a teacher. I am proud to have called him a friend as well. To his family and many friends I extend my profound condlences on your lost. He was a very special guy.

I visited with Bob often on Sundays in the last year, usually before the morning service when we would both show up early. We shared stories about life, both the good times and the bad. I appreciated his perseverance thru the bad, and enjoyed his smile and sense of humor. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and will miss seening him, but believe he is experiencing the peace and joy of being in God's presence. I pray that all of his family will also come to know that peace, which can only come from knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
